| If My Chapstick Could Talk...
I'm not sure if you can relate, but I love my chapstick, and although I do cherish it, my chapstick always manages to sneak out of my pocket and travel all on its own. Just today, it decided to join my other clothes in the washer and get squeaky clean. Sometimes when my chapstick runs away (usually the semi-new ones), it never comes back and its back-up needs to come out to replace it (I usually buy like 4 at a time when it's time to stock up). Other times, I welcome my chapstick back with open arms (usually the ones that have been with me longer and therefore are more faithful). Anyhow, today I decided that one washing was not enough to turn away from my chappy so now it's back in my posession.
Here are some places my Carmex has been: 1) Washer (at least twice) 2) Dryer (once, and this was NOT pretty... made all my clothes smell like mint) 3) Movie theater floor, then I watched it get swept into the dirty dustpan (once) 4) Stairs- school, subway, church, home, etc... (at least once) 5) Land of never returning (not really sure how many times)
Anyhow, I know this is a truly random post for someone who has not posted in more than a year. =P Yes... my life is just that interesting...

| wow, it has been sooo long since i last posted on xanga... i guess after my kiddies found out my xanga i've sort of been in hiding for fear of being sued for saying something i would very soon regret (hi kids!) hehe... but because they have all since graduated, i've decided it's time to update a lil with pictures.
this past weekend, we went apple picking and enjoyed the brisk fall weather. my sister susan graciously drove us to hurd's farm for the festivites on the cool bus. (you can't see the guys cus they're sleeping in the back.)

then susan and christina took a trip on the cow train... susan was so inspiring that they named a cow after her.
we also got to walk through a corn maze that was 4 acres long! (i don't think we walked through the whole thing, but at least we made it out)
at last, victory! (josh is holding a flag in his hand so that ppl can track you if you get lost)
at first it was gonna be only girls going, but with a lil nudging, josh and steve came along... however, i think the girls had a lil too much fun...
lastly, in mid-sept, i went with janina to a bridal expo (not for me, for her) and we got to take pics in a photobooth cus couples can opt to rent a booth at their wedding for guests to take pics in and take home as favors. if you had money to spare (about $2,000) i would totally recommend this. so cool!

| after working in my school for a little over a year, i've noticed that there are certain things that are guaranteed to come out of many of the students' mouths regardless of grade or gender. here are my top 5 "faves"
5. gooder- for example you might hear one say, "I am gooder than you."
4. open the lights (on occasion you will also hear close the AC)
3. give me back it.
2. may you speak louder?
1. Akebono! (actually i have no idea who/what this is, but some kids really love screaming this name)
also, for those of you who may not know, i got "promoted" from 2nd grade to 5th grade. the comment i hear most often from other teachers when they see me walking with my class is, "wow, you look just like one of them. i couldn't tell who the teacher was for a sec" and today i also heard "you're the same size as they are" but no, she was mistaken... some of them are taller than me. hehe, it's a good thing i don't teach hs.
| And the winner is... #4!
Thank you to all of you who voted and shared your opinions! =) Based on your votes, I decided it was more worth it to go with a metal watch and #4 was more poplular than #3, so it won. special thanks to garyl for clarifying that i could get $20 today and not 2 months from now.
on another note. i served jury duty for the first time today. i went in fully prepared to be ultra biased or sound really young and naive, but i didn't need to cus they didn't call my name. yay! thank God summer is a slow season.
but while sitting there for the whole day, i realized waiting to be called on a panel feels much like waiting in an airport for a plane that's going no where. oh wells, all i know is that i have no more jury duty for 6 years! as a last thought, i shall leave you with words of my father when he was considering how to get out of his own service. "...DEATH PENALTY!"
| okay, so i decided to use xanga for a poll.
i am in need of a new watch and i narrowed the choice down to only six. haha, i am so decisive... so that's where YOU come in.
if you'd like to help a girl in need, please vote for one that you think looks nice and we'll see who the winner is. =) any and all feedback is much appreciated and will be taken into consideration. (sorry for the lack of size consistency in the watches.)
(yes, i am aware that many of them look like the watch i have now. and yes, i am aware that many of them look like each other)
#1 #2
#3 #4
#5 #6
please also let me know if you can't see the pics. thanks!
